Do you remember the first time you saw something or read something that made you feel that maybe life is more magical than what your parents taught you?
I once had a teacher that came to my school village from the city. I was 5 years old and in Kindergarten and she was a temporary replacement for our beloved teacher, but in the few weeks she was with us planted a seed of wonder in my mind.
She was young, artistic, and she had long hair and was very loving. It was the 70’s and her worldview about the possibilities we have as women were huge in comparison to the tribal women in my village.
Then, I heard her talk about me to my mother, telling her that “my talents” should be nurtured and it was the first time I ever heard acknowledgment to my inner world (spirit) and addressed it as something positive.
Four years later my mother made a very controversial decision to send me to the city of Jerusalem and study classical ballet. That brave decision changed my life, my future work, and art and it all started with one wonder seed from a replacement teacher.
